A new way of living
The Palmerola Master Plan proposes a new way of living, working, and enjoying the city’s public spaces. An integrated urban development that provides housing, shops, services, civic facilities, and public spaces of superior quality in an open and safe environment. The site’s mobility networks are strategically planned to establish its nodal presence in the territory. The historical legacy of Comayagua is celebrated with the adaptive reuse of industrial buildings, and its natural heritage is preserved with verdant public spaces. The Palmerola project will forge a unique identity and is positioned to become an attractive destination at a regional level and a future model for development in Central America.
Gehl generated the armature of streets and public spaces of different sizes and characters that will define the experience of the people who visit and live in Palmerola. The site develops as a meeting point for the local community, airport workers, and tourists seeking sports, cultural, educational, and leisure activities, enhancing the context of the airport and increasing services and amenities in the area.
The Master plan will provide a high quality of life for its residents by allowing the neighborhoods to connect through a vibrant public space. Residents are set to be in constant contact with nature, along with encouraged social interactions between neighbors and visitors to the complex who enjoy educational, health, and recreational services.
