Julia is a partner and director of the Cities team at Gehl, passionate about highlighting public space as a platform to impact equitable outcomes and communities. With seventeen years of experience working with city agencies and community leaders, she has led engagement projects in communities near and far, supporting urban leaders in ensuring people are visible and heard in the city-making process. Julia works across design, strategy, and research to demonstrate the integral role streets play as connective, vibrant public spaces. Her approach is focused on reaching and engaging audiences that have traditionally felt disconnected from governing bodies, as well as building trust with city leaders to help them develop people-first approaches that result in visible policy and design change. Prior to Gehl, Julia was a Director of Transportation and Health at the NYC based advocacy organization Transportation Alternatives, where she developed campaigns focused on play, health, and safety.
